Mike with North Vietnamese Vets at Friendship Village |
For those of you that followed My brother (Mike) & I's travel to Vietnam last November, this is but an update. I had finally talked Mike into going back to Vietnam to visit and experience the country that he had endured during the American War in Vietnam. I had several friends there that were also Vets and had returned and had loved it so much that they had stayed and live there now. During Mike's 3 weeks there with me, I introduced them to him and he also made many more of his own connections. During our time in Hanoi (day 3 of our trip) we met Pankaja (Panky) & Sheelu who were making a movie about American Vets that have returned to Vietnam. The link below is the results of their filming and is very insightful into the aftermath of that conflict in terms of PTSD, Agent Orange, Unexploded Ordinance (UXO) and the cultural beauty of the Vietnamese in their "moving forward" and not dwelling on the past.

As a Great side note Mike and Ginny (his wife) have just returned from Vietnam on a trip to further his connections and experience for themselves these beautiful people. I commend them both for taking this huge step.
